A newly-married couple wants to spend their outstanding honeymoon in a mysterious jungle full of wondrous creatures which are not of this world. A specially trained guide who is familiar with the extremely bizarre wildlife, shall make every trip there an unforgettable experience including all imaginable amenities. At first, everything goes according to plan, but it quickly becomes clear that the jungle around them is more dangerous than they had guessed.
In his new book „Safari Honeymoon“, the Canadian illustrator Jesse Jacobs tells in his own imagery the story of two opposing spouses, who first lose themselves in a terrible and miraculous place, before they find common ground.

Aglaé, a nymph from the forest of Enna, is the protagonist in this big drama. Advanced in pregnancy and disowned by her own father, she finds refuge in the circus troupe around Mister Kite. Unfortunately the circus is in the kingdom of Marylène, where the cruel despot von Krantz seeks especially the lifes of unmarried mothers. Aglaé has to come to terms with the new circumstances and fate is on her side. But in her search for affection and individual fulfilment, she drifts from one life to another and ends up losing more than she is aware of.
Anne Simon succeeds to weave the various levels of action into an impressive epic with her imaginative drawings. She underlines the tragic, sometimes the absurd humour of the story, which is about love which destroys, about power, which rulers exert on their subjects, and about interpersonal tyranny. From the myths of classical antiquity to the Beatles to Simone de Beauvoir, Anne Simone creates a dense universe full of allusions, populated by extraordinary characters.

At the International Comic Salon Erlangen 2014 Lescheks Flug won the ICOM-award as best independent-comic 2014.

Somewhere in space there’s Neulins, a miserable and dirty place, where the check clocks on the factory floors beat time. The population adapted to this industry-asteroid’s rough climate: Neulins is nearly solely inhabited by “maschinenmenschen”. And like all others Leschek as well should actually be a small productive cog in this wheel. But at his work station in the toyfactory the jovial robot spends more time on his daydreams than on the construction plans of the latest multi-functional-figurine. When his hard-working colleague Fattko falls victim to the final malfunction, Leschek suddenly sees himself as the sole heir of a heritage that could finally make his escape possible. But to leave Neulins for ever Leschek needs a human partner.

For his comic debut Lescheks Flight illustartor Sebastian Stamm – designer and co-developer of the multi-awarded indie game Tiny & Big – created an extraordinary action scenario: a quirky space adventure that corrodes, whirs and creaks.

Es ist Frühling. Fräulein Guck-in-die-Luft sitzt am Küchenfenster ihres Turmzimmers und sieht Felsbrocken vom Himmel in den Garten stürzen. Oder sind es Vögel? Oder Schatten? Sie fallen schnell zu Boden, wie immer im Frühling. Im Laufe der Zeit werden es immer mehr und es ist ein rauer Tumult unter ihrem Dach.

Könnten Felsen so zetern,
wären die Gebirge unerträglich laut und
sie würde den Wald für immer bevorzugen.

Sie hält Ausschau. Unten im Garten lauert der Katzenmann. Er ist auf der Jagd. Er wildert im Organgarten. Seine Einladung zu Tisch nimmt sie nicht an und so treffen sich die beiden nicht in den Bildern, im Text jedoch schon.

Who is this strange doctor? Eugène has every reason to wonder. Dr. Trousseau obviously is interested in his hands and offers Eugène a job in town after a scrutiny at the very hands.
Eugène’s palms indeed have a peculiarity: When he was a child, the skin of a stranger was transplanted there. He decides to engage in the doctor’s offer and accepts the ominous job. But the incidents caused by him accepting the job are beyond his control. Eugène gets deeper and deeper into a rousing adventure in which the presence of his mysterious pursuers becomes more and more threatening.
EUGÈNE is Quentin Vijoux’s first book release and it surprises with every new page. In breezing light black-and-white drawings, he develops an exciting thriller that never lets go the reader anymore.
