Lucie Lučanská invites us to explore our perception of the world. Across five chapters—each featuring its own distinct visual language—the very same walk is presented from a variety of perspectives. Let us begin with sight: colors glow, merge, and harmonize with the landscape. Next comes hearing, for the book itself is brimming with sounds—and every single sound, whether read aloud or imagined, becomes audible. Pure magic! Then comes the sense of smell: the scents we associate with our surroundings whisk us away to other worlds. To engage the sense of touch, a special varnish highlights specific details within the illustrations, inviting us to explore our surroundings with our hands. And the final chapter—dedicated to the sense of taste—is truly mouth-watering! The walk concludes with a return home, where the day’s adventures are shared over dinner.

“Das Buch von den fünf Sinnen” (The Book of the Five Senses) serves as both a narrative and a graphic invitation to discover the world—and our own perceptions of it—while simultaneously demonstrating just how widely these perceptions can vary from person to person. The use of spot colors and carefully selected varnishes complements these diverse sensory impressions, transforming the book into a truly unique tactile and visual experience—and one to be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
