Born in 1977 in Bruges, Olivier Schrauwen studied animation at the Academy of Art in Ghentand and comics at the Saint Luc in Bruges. He improved his style, a reminisence of classical american comic strips, in several anthologies such as Spirou, Beeldstorm, Demo, INK and Zone5300. His two books My Boy and The Man Who Grew His Beard were published in English by Bries and Fantagraphics.
The first inbetween Kiin.zine. More precisely it is somewhere between Kiin. #7 and Kiin. #8. Created for the Super Villain groupshow at Rotopol, it is an essential companion for the modern villian of today.
They were looking for it. All of them. Pizarro and Orellana, Klaus Kinski and Harrison Ford, Neil Young and Iron Maiden. They were looking for ELDORADO!
I was so ill, I was so wild,
but all I want is something else,
I want a wife, I want a child.
Kiin. has been there and they show us the way to the land of promises where our deepest whishes and desires come true. The journey is no bed of roses though. To reach the holy gates of Bling you need a splendiferous stallion, a cup of lepid Muckefuck (ersatz coffee) and to take part in at least one mediocre poetry slam. Godspeed!

Super heroes are society’s idols who are constantly busy saving us out of the deadly claws of evil. So they act like the worlds cleaners who have to take care of all the mess of those who really make the world go round: SUPER VILLAINS.
The world is full of them and as often as you might meet a hero you also meet their evil nemesis or their minions: They can appear as Zorgon – Dolphin King of the Seventh Galaxy, your evil neighbour, a company or a government official or your favorite conspiracy theory. Of course we’re all attracted by the light but we’re also curious to have a glimpse into darkness.
Together with you we want to find out who’s behind all that nasty stuff that’s going on in the world!

Nr.9, übernehmen Sie!!! – that is the title of Nic Klein’s first solo-show at Rotopol that presents a big selection of original by the Kassel based illustrator. Nic Klein made his mark in the international comic and entertainment industry because of his individual style. It’s no surprise that he is hired by major companies like Marvel, DC Comics,Image Comics, Wizards of The Coast, Panini, Top Cow, Simon & Schuster,Microsoft games, Egmont Ehapa and many more. Since we started Rotopolpress back in 2007 Nic Klein is closely connected with the Rotopol family. He is also co-editor of our mini-comic-anthology DOLOR. Reasons enough to dedicate an exhibition to him.
Nic Klein is a true master in combining digital and traditional painting techniques and he added his own style to covers for various comic series like Superman, New Warriors or Star Lord mit seinen Covern seine künstlerische Handschrift verpasst.
American author Ivan Brandon teamed up with Nic Klein for the comic saga Viking – The Long Cold Fire that was widely acclaimed by critics as a “Crime book for the 9th century”. Lately Brandon and Klein worked together with Brian Azzarello to breathe new life into DC-veteran Doc Savage.
