born 1983, has been working as a freelance cartoonist since completing his studies in communication design at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Arts. He draws backgrounds, characters and storyboards for cartoon series such as “Clarence”, “Adventure Time”, “Summer Camp Island” or “The Fungies”. He also writes and draws his own comics and occasionally creates video games with friends such as “Miracle Merchant”. His comics debut “Der Ziegensauger” was published by Rotopol in 2011 and had a lasting influence on the German comics scene due to its loose lineart and humorous narrative style. Since then, Thomas Wellmann has published six books with Rotopol including three volumes of his children’s comic series “Nika, Lotte, Mangold!” and his comics series “Pimo & Rex”. Thomas works as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines including Polle, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Der Spiegel and ZEIT Leo and illustrated the children’s book “Oma zu Verkaufen” by Martin Baltscheit (Kibitz Verlag). Together with his family, he lives in a small house near Münster.
